Carson Landscape Industries creates
"solar landscape"

SACRAMENTO – Carson Landscape Industries recently carried out its commitment to make the world even "greener" by installing a 100 kilowatt solar electric system at its facility in Sacramento, California.

The company is making full use of its large warehouse roof with a system that will generate enough electricity to offset a significant portion of their electricity usage.

The solar array will generate more than 151,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity during an average weather year—enough to power 40 homes.

Solar Development Inc. of Granite Bay, California, managed the project, in addition to designing the system and supplying the materials. Local electric utility SMUD contributed $291,000 to the project under the terms of their solar incentive program. The system is powered by 560 Sharp 208
watt solar modules, and a 100 kilowatt SatCon Power Systems inverter. The modules are mounted using the penetrationless SunLink solar mounting system, providing easy roof access and unimpeded drainage. Installation services were carried out by Roseville Solar Electric,
of Roseville, California.

In 1975, Frank Carson, owner of Carson Landscape Industries, started out with a residential service route. Today, the company offers 32 years of experience, is 230 employees strong, and has 94 trucks servicing 15 million square feet of landscape in Northern California. Carson Landscape Industries is committed to creating an environment of quality through its full-service programs of weekly maintenance, irrigation, renovation, installation, and spray services.

"I am also committed to keeping the environment "green" in other ways," Carson says, "Which is why I contacted Solar Development Inc. for the installation of my solar system. They were efficient and reliable in the design and installation of my system, as well as making the required coordination efforts with SMUD seem effortless."

Solar Development Inc. has more than 30 years of combined experience in the solar industry. The
company has developed a reputation for quality, has managed a variety of commercial and government projects, ranging in size from just 10 kilowatts to over a megawatt. Solar arrays are passive systems with no moving parts, no noise, and a life expectancy greater than 30 years. The solar modules for the Carson project were provided with a 25-year power warranty, and the installed system requires very little annual maintenance.

The Carson solar system is a hedge against future increases in electricity prices, and shows Carson Landscape Industries' pledge to the community, the environment, and the future.
